La melodia dei motori del passato ha invaso anche quest’anno per un intero weekend l’Autodromo di Monza. Lola T70, Porsche 917, Alfa 33/3 e AC Cobra sono solo alcune delle auto che hanno preso parte a questa 61^ edizione della Coppa Intereuropa, il classico evento dedicato alla storia e alla passione per le tradizioni motoristiche.

Also this year the Melody of the old engine has invaded for an entire weekend the Autodromo di Monza. Lola T70, Porsche 917, Alfa 33/3 and AC Cobra are just a few cars that took part to this 61st edition of the Coppa Intereuropa, the classic event dedicated to the history and the passion for the motoring traditions.

Con un totale di 8 gare suddivise tra le 5 categorie presenti, le bellezze del passato hanno dato dimostrazione ancora una volta della qualità di questo tipo di competizione.

With a total of 8 races divided between 5 categories, the beauties of the past have proven once again the quality of this kind of competition.

Categoria regina la 1000km, nella quale si sono sfidate le Sport Prototipo e le Sports Car più famose degli anni 60 e 70.

The main category was the 1000km, where the most famous Sports Prototypes and the Sports Cars of the 60s and 70s challenged themselves.

La gara, della durata di 3 ore, si è svolta il Sabato. Alla partenza i potenti V8 hanno fatto tremare la terra

The race, lasting 3 hours, was held on Saturday. At the start the powerful V8 engines shacked the ground

e nel giro di un attimo sono scomparse, lasciando spazio al resto della griglia di partenza che da subito ha scaldato il nastro di asfalto.

and in a matter of seconds they disappeared, leaving space to the rest of the field which immediately warmed up the stripe of tarmac.

La grinta dei piloti è sempre tanta e anche il cantante Chris Rea, a bordo della Elva Mk7, si è rivelato essere costante e preciso

The determination of the drivers is always at the top and also the singer Chris Rea, driving the Elva Mk7,  proved to be constant and precise

così come il grande Arturo Merzario, purtroppo abbandonato a metà gara dalla frizione della sua Alfa 33/3.

Nella danza di pit stop obbligatori si sono viste scene d’altri tempi

In the carousel of the mandatory pit stops we saw some real old school scenes

e altre decisamente “simpatiche”.

And other ones definitely “funny”.

Alcuni hanno comunque preso seriamente la competizione e adottato in pieno lo stile “Le Mans”.

However someone took the competition seriously and adopted the real “Le Mans” style.

Alla fine delle 3 ore, a tagliare il traguardo per prima, una delle auto più iconiche di quel periodo, la leggendaria Porsche 917 guidata da Peter e Carlo Voegele,

At the end of the 3 hours, crossing the finish line first, one of the most iconic cars of that era, the legendary Porsche 917 driven by Peter and Carlo Voegele,

seguita a ruota da una delle 5 stupende Lola T70 presenti, quella dell’equipaggio Stretton-Tromans.

followed by one of the 5 wonderful Lola T70s, the one of the crew Stretton-Tromans.

Invece nella giornata di Domenica i bolidi delle 1000km hanno effettuato una gara sprint di 8 giri nella quale, pur essendo di breve durata, le auto sono state spinte al massimo.

While on Sunday the race cars of the 1000km have done a sprint race of 8 laps where, while being of short duration, the cars have been pushed to the limit.

Non tutti hanno preso parte al via ma la qualità è rimasta pur sempre alta.

Not everyone took part to this race but the quality remained to the top.

Questa seconda gara è stata vinta dalla stessa Lola T70 che il giorno prima si è piazzata seconda, quella del duo Stretton-Tromans.

This second race has been won by the same Lola T70 that the day before finished the race at the second place, the one of the duo Stretton-Tromans.

L’altra categoria, formata dalle GT e dalle Sport Car degli anni 50 e 60 e denominata appunto GTSCC, racchiude in se una delle formule più vincenti. Unire vetture prestigiose come le Jaguar E-Type

The other category, composed by the GTs and by the Sports Cars from the 50s and 60s called exaclty GTSCC, encloses one of the most successful “strategies”. Putting together prestigious cars like the Jaguar E-Type

e a piccole e leggere auto come le Lotus 11 o le Alfa TZ.

Un mix di prestazioni che regala emozioni degne delle migliori corse old school.

A mix of performances that give emotions worth of the best old school races.

Da non dimenticare le piccole U2TC, vetture turismo con motore inferiore ai 2.000cc.

Not to be missed the small U2TC, touring cars with the engine under 2.000cc.

Le Lotus Cortina sono le auto più spettacolari in pista, esibendosi spesso in traversi controllati che pennellano l’uscita di curva

The Lotus Cortinas were the most spectacular on the race track, often performing in controlled slides that litterally “paint” the exit of the corner

e uno dei piloti che più si è divertito con i traversi è stato il noto giornalista della rivista automotive “EVO”, Richard Meaden.

and one of the drivers who has enjoyed more going sideways has been the famous journalist of the automotive magazine “EVO”, Richard Meaden.

L’Alfa Romeo ha avuto due gare dedicate con il Campionato Tutto Alfa. Più di 40 auto del Biscione, tra cui Giulia e Giulietta in diverse configurazioni, sono scese in pista a regalare emozioni agli appassionati del marchio.

Alfa Romeo had its two dedicated races with the Campionato Tutto Alfa. More than 40 cars of the “Biscione”, among which Giulias and Giuliettas in various configurations, went down on the track to give emotions to the fans of the brand.

Ma non solo ruote coperte nel weekend di gare. Il Challenge Formula Storiche 2013 era presente con una bellissima griglia di partenza formata da auto del calibro di Lotus e Brabham.

But not only closed wheels in the weekend of races. The Challenge Formula Storiche 2013 was there with a beautiful starting grid made of race cars such as Lotus and Brabham.

E’ sempre bello assistere a queste gare, anche solo per rivivere il fascino di queste Formula Junior e di quei piloti temerari che corrono con il classico casco aperto e la mascherina.

It’s always great to look at these races, even just to live again the charm of these Formula Juniors and of those brave drivers that race with the classic open helmet and goggles.

Il secondo invece è ovviamente il 50° anniversario della vettura più iconica di Stuttgart, la 911.

The second one instead is of course the 50th anniversary of the most iconic vehicle produced in Stuttgart, the 911.

la parata ha visto coinvolte più di 200 911 di ogni genere, comprese vere rarità come la Porsche 959.

Nonostante si sia rivelata un’edizione decisamente sottotono rispetto agli anni passati a causa dei pochi iscritti (molti non si sono presentati), la Coppa Intereuropa rimane comunque il punto di riferimento per le gare di auto storiche nel nord Italia.

Although it has proved to be a very subdued edition compared to the previous years, because of the few entrants (many of them never showed up), the Coppa Intereuropa still remains the landmark for the classic races in the north of Italy.
