21st Vernasca Silver Flag – Hommage To The Biscione

In Italia, quando si parla di automobili e di passione, c’è sempre il nome di un costruttore che viene fuori. E per quanto possa sembrare strano non è Ferrari, bensì Alfa Romeo. Alfa, proprio lei, la casa del Biscione, un marchio che riesce a dividere e ad unire le persone. Chi le ama e chi le odia, in entrambe i casi quasi senza vie di mezzo. Ebbene, la 21ma edizione della Vernasca Silver Flag è stata dedicata ad Alfa Romeo, proprio in concomitanza con il “ritorno alle origini” del marchio, alla guida sportiva, alla nuova Alfa Giulia.

In Italy, when it comes to cars and passion, there is always the name of a manufacturer that comes out. And as much as it could sound strange it is not Ferrari, but Alfa Romeo. Alfa, just “her”, the mighty Biscione, a brand that can split and merge the people. There are those who love it and those who hate it, in both cases almost with nothing in between. Well, the 21^st edition of the Vernasca Silver Flag was dedicated to Alfa Romeo, right in conjunction with the “back to the roots” of the brand, with the sheer driving pleasure, with the new Alfa Giulia.

Il sempre impeccabile CPAE ha organizzato per il pubblico un evento che ha portato sulle strade della Val d’Arda alcune delle più belle e significative vetture stradali e da corsa della casa di Arese. Dalle più comuni ma splendide Giulia e Giulietta, alle più rare e brutali Alfa Tipo33, sia in versione 8 e 12 cilindri. E a proposito di rarità, all’evento ha presenziato anche l’architetto e collezionista Corrado Lopresto, sfilando con due auto della sua collezione. La elegantissima Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Zagato/Aprile e la Alfa Giulia TZ prototipo #0001 divenuta famosa per aver fatto parlare molto di se poco tempo fa al concorso di eleganza di Villa d’Este, in quanto per metà è conservata e lucidata, mentre l’altra metà è stata lasciata proprio nelle condizioni del suo ritrovamento.
Ma alla VSF non ci si ferma mai alle sole auto a tema. E allora ecco che ad affrontare la strada che unisce Vernasca a Castell’Arquato si possono vedere Porsche, Jaguar, Ferrari, Matra, Lotus e tanto altro ancora, dagli anni ’30 in avanti. Inoltre, camminando tranquillamente nel paddock, è possibile incontrare e parlare con i sempre disponibili proprietari delle auto, personaggi più famosi inclusi, come il mitico “cowboy” Arturo Merzario, Henri Pescarolo, Luigi Moreschi e tanti ancora.
Una 21ma edizione caratterizzata dal sole, dalla pioggia, dalle auto magnifiche e dalla solita cordialità ed eccellente organizzazione del CPAE. Senza dimenticare la celebrazione di una delle case automobilistiche più importanti al mondo, la grande Alfa Romeo, in tutte le sue sfumature. Arrivederci al prossimo anno, Silver Flag.

The always impeccable CPAE has organized for its public an event which brought on the roads of the Val d’Arda some of the most beautiful and significant road and racing cars of the Arese company. From the more common yet gorgeous Giulia and Giulietta, to the most rare and brutal Alfa Tipo33s, both in 8 and 12 cylinders guise. And talking about rare, at the event there was also the architect and collector Corrado Lopresto, parading with two cars of his collection. The extremely elegant Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Zagato/Aprile and the Alfa Giulia TZ prototype #0001 which recently became famous and made a lot of people to talk and discuss about it at the Concours d’Elegance at Villa d’Este, because half of the car is preserved and cleaned, while the other half has been kept in its barn find conditions.
But at the VSF there are always more cars other than the theme based ones. So, tackling the road that joins Vernasca and Castell’Arquato, the people can see Porsches, Jaguars, Ferraris, Matras, Lotus’ and many more, from the 30s onwards. Moreorever, walking through the paddock, it is possible to meet and talk with the always kind owners of the cars, famous ones included, like the legendary “cowboy” Arturo Merzario, Henri Pescarolo, Luigi Moreschi and many more.
