Durante l’inverno la cosa che ogni petrolhead attende è la neve. Dategli la neve e lui diventerà una persona felice. No, non perché si può andare a sciare ma perché, macchina permettendo, può andare a divertirsi sui fondi a bassa aderenza a suon di traversi. Lo spirito dello Snow Trophy è un po’ questo. Si tratta di una gara di regolarità organizzata dalla sezione Autostoriche della Scuderia San Martino Corse e si tiene nella bellissima vallata del Primerio.

During winter the thing that every petrolhead is waiting for is the snow. Give him the snow and he will become a happy person. No, not because one can go skiing but because, according to the car, he can go to have some fun on the slippery surfaces with a lot of sideways action. The spirit of the Snow Trophy is a bit like so. Basically it consists in a regularity race organized by the classic cars association of the Scuderia San Martino Corse and is held in the beautiful Primerio valley.

Le prove si svolgono su dei percorsi molto belli di cui uno particolarmente curioso. Ed è proprio li da dove inizia la nostra giornata. Le auto devono passare tra piccole baite di legno,

The stages take place on some beautiful roads, one of which is quite curious. And it’s precisely from that one where our day starts. The cars have to pass between small sheds made of wood,

 

gli enormi tronchi di una segheria

e una stalla con un cavallo…

e come tradizione in ogni gara di regolarità, c’è chi tiene d’occhio il cronometro cercando di rispettare i tempi imposti

Erano presenti alcune tra le auto che hanno fatto la storia del rallysmo dagli anni ’60

comprese auto decisamente più stradali, dotate di ruote chiodate come da regolamento, che hanno spinto sul gas senza troppe esitazioni!

including some definitely more street oriented cars, equipped with studded tires as by regulation, that have pushed on the gas with no hesitations!

 

A coronare la splendida selezione di icone del rallysmo, le due auto scopa. Una splendida e brutale Audi Quattro che sembrava dilaniare l’asfalto con i chiodini delle ruote

Come avrete notate dalle ultime foto lo scenario è cambiato. Infatti, prima dell’arrivo del buio della notte, ci siamo spostati in mezzo ai boschi con il fondo stradale ghiacciato.

As you may have noticed from the last images the scene has changed. In fact, before the darkness of the night stepped in, we went through the forest with an icy tarmac.

 

Il panorama era stupendo, quasi poetico con la candida neve a bordo strada e il silenzio totale che veniva interrotto solo dal sound dei motori a carburatori delle prime auto che scendono lungo la strada.

The panorama was amazing, almost poetical with the candid snow on the side of the road and the complete silence that was interrupted only by the sound of the carbed engines that went down the road.

 

Siamo stati letteralmente trasportati indietro nel tempo e sfidiamo chiunque a dire il contrario vedendo queste immagini.

We’ve been literally took back in time and we challenge anyone to say otherwise by looking at these images.

 

Il bello di questi eventi per uno spettatore non è il solo vedere le auto di traverso, anche se ovviamente è una delle parti più spettacolari

The great part of these events for a spectator is only to see that cars sideways, even if of course it’s one of the most spectacular things to witness

 

ma è anche l’essere coinvolti nel “seguire” le auto lungo le tappe, percorrendo strade mozzafiato e aspettando a bordo strada l’arrivo di queste splendide icone dal rallysmo.

but it’s also about being involved with “following” the cars through the stages, driving on breathtaking roads and waiting on the side of the road for these wonderful rally icons to come.

 

L’organizzazione è stata perfetta, le prove speciali suggestive e nonostante la neve poco abbondante si sono visti bei passaggi da parte di tutti i concorrenti.

The organization was perfect, the rally stages very suggestive and despite the few snow we’ve seen a good amount of hooning from every team.

Non c’è bisogno di essere piloti professionisti per partecipare e non c’è bisogno di essere dei fan sfegatati per passare una bella giornata di motorsport in compagnia di altri appassionati. Questo è il bello delle gare di regolarità, la passione per i motori che accomuna tutti quanti, piloti e spettatori.

There’s no need of being a professional driver to participate and there’s no need to be a huge fan of this specialty to spend a beautiful motorsport day with other enthusiasts. This is the good thing of the regularity races, the passion for the engines unites everyone, drivers and spectators.
