C’è un weekend ogni anno in cui l’Autodromo di Monza parla Tedesco. Nel vero senso della parola! Dai megafoni esce la cronaca del cronista tedesco, nel paddock e sugli spalti quasi tutti parlano tedesco e ovviamente anche la maggior parte delle auto sono tedesche. Stiamo parlando dell’AVD Race Weekend, classico appuntamento del calendario di Settembre del circuito brianzolo.

There is a weekend every year where the Autodromo di Monza speaks German. In the true sense of the word! From the megaphones comes out the commentary of the german commentator, in the paddock and on the stands almost everyone was speaking german and of course most of the cars were german too. We’re talking about the AVD Race Weekend, classic calendar appointment in September at Monza’s race track.

Come sempre la selezione di auto presenti è da rimanere a bocca aperta, con gioielli a quattro ruote del passato e moderni.

As always the selection of cars is breathtaking, with four wheels gems from the past and from nowdays.

Ovviamente le auto di Stoccarda hanno dominato la scena. Porsche per tutti i gusti, dai grandi classici come questa stupenda 911 RSR direttamente dagli anni ’70

a modelli più rari come la 908/2 Flunder ex Steve McQueen (che abbiamo già incontrato un paio di mesi fa al Vernasca Silver Flag).

E non mancavano le più performanti e moderne versioni della 911, come la brutale 997 GT3 RSR

e due velocissime e spettacolari 993 GT2 EVO.

Ma le sorprese non si sono limitate alle Porsche, perchè anche la selezione di BMW era a dir poco da far cadere la mascella! Non una, ma ben due BMW 320 E21 Gr.5 sono scese in pista.

But the surprises were not only Porsche related, because the selection of BMWs was quite impressive! Not one, but two BMW 320 E21 Gr.5 were on the race track.

Batman avrebbe dovuto usare una di queste, altro che Batmobile! Larghe e cattive, vederle sfrecciare in pista ti lascia sempre a bocca aperta.

Batman should have use one of these more than the Batmobile! Large and mean, looking at them blasting on the straights is a great experience.

Nel trofeo dedicato alle “Young timer” e alle BMW 325 si sono viste stupende battaglie, con le agili E30 spinte al limite in ogni curva

In the trophy dedicated to the “Young Timers” and to the BMW 325 we saw some nice battles, with the agile E30s pushed to the limit at every corner

e spesso alle prese anche con auto più moderne.

Assolutamente da menzionare la ormai classica presenza all’AVD della rossa Ford Capri Turbo RS Cosworth

e della blu Audi Quattro Sport che quest’anno ha anche deciso di andare nella sua “comfort zone” con qualche uscita sullo sterrato!

mischiate con veri mostri da pista come questa BMW M3

e con i prototipi dell’SCC. E tra tutti i prototipi è stata la PRC del Team Barth a dominare per tutto il weekend, con un passo di gara incredibile e un setup ottimale per la pista.

Un’altra categoria che non si è rivelata molto entusiasmante è stata quella delle piccole formula storiche. Le diversità tra le auto non hanno aiutato le battaglie in pista e ci siamo dovuti accontentare dei numeri al volante dei singoli piloti.

Another category that hasn’t been very entertaining was the one of the small Formula Historic. The differences between the cars didn’t help the battles on the track and we had to settle with the numbers behind the wheel of the single drivers.

Tutto sommato è stato un ottimo modo per tornare a bordo pista dopo la pausa estiva, ma tenetevi pronti per i prossimi eventi! La stagione delle corse continua!

All in all it has been a great way to come back track side after the summer break, but get ready for the next events! The racing season goes on!
