Exclusive: Audi R18 Ultra & Audi R8 LMS Ultra testing in Monza
Pioggia, vento, freddo… buongiorno primavera! Secondo noi in Audi stanno ancora maledicendo il clima, visto che ieri era in programma una giornata intera di test e in realtà le due auto portate a Monza dal Team Audi Sport hanno girato solamente nel pomeriggio e con stint molto brevi.
Rain, wind, cold… good morning spring! We think that the guys in Audi are still swearing against the weather, since yesterday a full day of test was in program and actually the two cars brought in Monza by the Team Audi Sport have lapped the track only in the afternoon and with very short stints.

La pista era veramente zuppa e la pioggia è stata battente per tutta la mattinata, ma nonostante ciò, in Audi si sono poi decisi a provare la macchina.
The track was really soaked and the rain has been really strong for the whole morning, but despite this, the Audi guys decided to try the car.
La R18 Ultra era guidata dall’Italiano Marco Bonanomi, in realtà pilota della R18 Ultra #4, e la macchina era molto stabile sul bagnato.

La trazione era ottima considerando le condizioni della pista e la R18 si dimostra efficace anche sul bagnato.

L’altra auto presente era la R8 LMS Ultra della Audi Sport Team Phoenix. Selvaggia, brutale e stupenda sono i primi 3 aggettivi che vengono in mente appena la si vede in pista.

A testare l’auto, l’Italiano Andrea Piccini, pilota che corre sulla Audi R8 LMS del team WRT. Nei tratti di pista con grosse pozze d’acqua la R8 era veramente difficile da gestire e spesso è andata in acquaplaning costringendo Piccini a grandi controsterzate.
Testing the car, the Italian Andrea Piccini, driver that races on the Audi R8 LMS of the WRT team. In the parts with big puddles the R8 was really hard to handle and often went on hydroplaning, forcing Piccini with big oversteering.
Avendo girato molto di più rispetto alla R18, a fine giornata il setup della R8 è migliorato e gli stint in pista si sono fatti più lunghi.
Having tested the car a lot more than the R18, at the end of the day the setup of the R8 has been improved and the stints on the track became longer.
