Weekend for everyone’s taste at the Autodromo di Monza, with the ECC Endurance Champions Cup, the 3 groups of the Campionato Italiano Autostoriche, the historic and modern open wheelers and the Clio Cup Italia!

Andiamo con ordine e partiamo dal main event, la 4 Ore di Monza, primo appuntamento del campionato ECC. Divisi tra “Gold Cup” e “Silver Cup”, i 16 equipaggi si sono dati battaglia fin dai primi giri.

First things first, starting from the main event, the 4h di Monza, first race of the ECC championship. Splitted between “Gold Cup” and “Silver Cup”, the 16 teams battled since the first laps.

L’affidabilità delle vetture è stata messa a dura prova e qualcuno è stato costretto al ritio, come il Team Stadler Motorsport con la bellissima Porsche GT3 R guidata da Karl Renz e Marco Seefried che hanno combattuto per più di due ore per la seconda posizione con la Ferrai 458 della Vita4One rimanendo sempre a meno di un secondo di distacco tra di loro, ma fermati poi da un principio di incendio.

The reliability of the cars has been put under strain and someone has been forced to retire, like the Team Stadler Motorsport with the beautiful Porsche GT3 R driven by Karl Renz and Marco Seefried that battled for more than 2 hours for the second position with Vita4One’s Ferrari 458 remaining always with less than 1 second of gap between them, but stopped later from an outbreak of fire.

e alla fine delle 4 ore si è imposta sulle 458 del Team Vita4One e Black Bull Racing, arrivate rispettivamente seconda e terza.

Tra gli iscritti alla “Gold Cup” anche una Corvette C5 in configurazione VdeV con tanto di stupenda livrea Martini e motore Katech C6 R, guidata da Bryan Benton e Nigel Greensall.

Among the entrants of the “Gold Cup”, also a Corvette C5 in VdeV spec with a fantastic Martini livery and a Katech C6 R engine, driven by Bryan Benton and Nigel Greensall.

Ottimo debutto anche per la BRC Montecarlo, auto da gara alimentata a GPL, che con Merzario e Fissore si è piazzata in ottava posizione.

Nel Campionato Italiano Autostoriche ci sono purtroppo stati parecchi iscritti in meno rispetto alla scorsa edizione e questo ha penalizzato abbastanza lo spettacolo, ma per fortuna le auto erano come al solito bellissime e i piloti hanno regalato delle belle gare.

Unfortunately in the Campionato Italiano Autostoriche there have been a lot less entrants compared to the last year’s edition and this penalized a bit the show, but luckily the cars were beautiful as usual and the drivers did some good races.

Il 1° raggruppamento ha visto vincere la Lotus Elan di Tommaso Gelmini

mentre 2° e 3° raggruppamento, che hanno gareggiato insieme, sono stati dominati dalle Porsche. L’equipaggio Mundi / Rosticci su 911 3.0 si è aggiudicato il primo posto nel 2° raggruppamento

e a vincere il 3° raggruppamento è stata la stupenda Porsche 935 di Massimo e Fabio Sordi.

Il secondo posto se lo è aggiudicato la nera Porsche 930 del Team Italia, che quest’anno si è presentata con una nuova configurazione decisamente più aggressiva.

The second place has been gained by the black Porsche 930 of the Team Italia, that this year showed up with a new configuration, definitely more aggressive.

Sfortunato invece il grande Giuliano Giuliani, che ha accusato problemi alla sua BMW 2002 Schnizer.

Per passare alle ruote aperte, le Formula Renault erano presenti con due campionati. Le 2.0 Alps, con il russo Mot Koiranen a vincere entrambe le gare

e le 2.0 Italia, con gara 1 vinta da Kevin Gilardoni e gara 2 vinta Luca Defendi.

Il Lurani Trophy si è svolto con il solito dominio delle Brabham BT6 dei fratelli Tonetti, ma nonostante questo, vedere queste bellezze girare è sempre emozionante!

Due piloti si distinguevano tra tutti per l’originalità e il coraggio nel correre con il casco aperto e la mascherina, Federico Buratti sulla bellissima Chevron B9

Per finire, Stefano Comini e Guglielmo Pipolo si sono aggiudicati rispettivamente gara 1 e gara 2 della movimentata Clio Cup Italia.

To conclude, Stefano Comini and Guglielmo Pipolo won respectively race 1 and race 2 of the eventful Clio Cup Italia.

Sicuramente un weekend intenso, probabilmente con addirittura troppe categorie a correre nelle stesse giornate! Magari la limitazione delle categorie potrebbe essere una buona soluzione per avere meno campionati, ma più avvincenti e con più partecipanti!

For sure an intense weekend, probably with even too many categories racing in the same days! Maybe the limitation of all these categories could be a good solution to have less championships, but more enthralling and with more entrants!
