Finalmente, dopo un lungo inverno fatto di attesa e temperature polari, la stagione delle corse è ricominciata! Primo evento di quest’anno è stato il Campionato Mondiale Turismo WTCC a Monza, accompagnato da Auto GP, ETCC e Lotus Cup Italia.

Finally, after a long winter made of wait and polar temperatures, the season of the races is back! First event of the year has been the World Touring Car Championship WTCC in Monza, along with Auto GP, ETCC and Lotus Cup Italia.

Come sempre le Touring Cars hanno dato spettacolo a suon di sportellate, sorpassi e colpi di scena!

As usual touring cars gave a great show with contacts, overtaking and freak occurences!

Le Chevrolet Cruze si dimostrano ancora le auto da battere, con le tre ufficiali che hanno messo a segno un 1°-2°-4° in gara 1 e uno spettacolare 1°-2°-3° in gara 2. Questo si chiama dominio! Yvan Muller si è aggiudicato sia gara 1 che gara 2

mentre a difendere il Tricolore Italiano e a disturbare la festa del Team Chevrolet è stato Gabriele Tarquini che strappa uno stupendo terzo posto in gara 1.

L’ungherese Norbert Michelisz su BMW si è reso protagonista di un’ottima prestazione in gara 2, mantenendo la testa della corsa per diversi giri, e di un impatto alla Roggia con un piccione un po’ troppo curioso (spettatore Gr.B wannabe?!)!

The hungarian Norbert Michelisz on BMW became the protagonist of a great performance in race 2, maintaining the lead of the race for a few laps, and of an impact at the Roggia with a too much curious pigeon (Gr.B spectator wannabe?!)!

Grande gara 2 per Stefano D’Aste, partito 11° e arrivato 5° assoluto e primo tra gli indipendenti.

A great race 2 for Stefano D’Aste, started from the 11th position and arrived 5th overall and first among the independents’.

Il campionato ETCC è stato dominato dallo spagnolo Fernando Monje su Seat Leon TDI, con prestazioni incredibili per tutto il weekend (ricordiamo che dalla prossima gara di Valencia il pilota iberico partecipaerà al campionato WTCC). In gara 1 pole e vittoria con ben 18 secondi di vantaggio sul secondo classificato Paulsen, mentre in gara 2 con griglia invertita e con lo Spagnolo a partire dall’ottava posizione… stesso risultato, grande rimonta e primo posto, questa volta con “solo” 9 secondi di vantaggio sempre sul Norvegese.

The ETCC has been dominated by the spanish Fernando Monje on the Seat Leon TDI, with amazing performances for the whole weekend (we remember that from the next race in Valencia, the iberian driver will partecipate in the WTCC). In race 1, pole and victory with an astonishing 18 seconds of lead on the second driver Paulsen, while in race 2 with inverted grid and with the spanish driver starting from the 8th position… same result, a great catch up and first place, this time with “only” 9 seconds ahead of the norwegian.

C’è stato un altro protagonista a dare battaglia a Monje, Petr Fulin su BMW, ma il pilota ceco è stato escluso dalla classifica per aver ignorato la segnalazione di penalità per falsa partenza, con conseguente bandiera nera.

There was another protagonist fighting with Monje, Petr Fulin on BMW, but the czech driver has been excluded from the ranking because he ignored the flase start call, with resulting black flag.

Grande sorpresa di questo campionato è il ritorno alle corse di una Alfa Romeo 156 S2000, che il Team XFX Unicorse ha affidato al quindicenne ungherese Ferenc Ficza, pilota aggressivo che si è dimostrato abile anche nelle situazioni più difficili.

Big surprise of this championship is the comeback to the races of an Alfa Romeo 156 S2000, that the XFX Unicorse Team gave to the 15 years old hungarian Ferenc Ficza, aggressive driver that showed to be good even in the most difficult situations.

Per lui un buon quinto posto in gara 1 e un amaro ritiro in gara 2 a causa di un tamponamento al norvegese Sonderegger durante il settimo giro, ma il ragazzo è giovane e ha tutte le carte in tavola per diventare un ottimo pilota.

For Ficza a good 5th place in race 1 and a bad retirement in race 2 because of a bumping to the norwegian Sonderegger during the 7th lap, but the guy is young and has the credentials to became a great driver.

Per le ruote scoperte delle Auto GP questo fine settimana è stata battaglia pura! Pal Varhaug e Adrian Quaife-Hobbs sono stati i protagonisti di entrambe le gare e i due piloti sono ora a pari punti in testa alla classifica provvisoria.

For the open-wheels of the Auto GP cars this weekend has been pure fight! Pal Varhaug and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs have been the protagonists of both the races and the two guys are now at the top of the ranking with the same points.

La ricetta di questo campionato risulta vincente ed appassionante e i piloti di sicuro fanno la loro parte, gareggiando senza esclusione di colpi!

The recipe of this championship turns out to be great and enthralling and for sure the drivers do their part, racing with no holds barred!

La Lotus Cup Italia ha visto quest’anno un “Balance of Performance” tra Exige e 2-Eleven, in modo da rendere le gare più equilibrate e avvincenti

The Lotus Cup Italia this year went through a “Balance of Performance” between the Exige and the 2-Eleven, so that the races could be more engaging and balanced

ma a dominare il primo appuntamento è stata la classe GT Cup. Il britannico Randal su Lotus Europa è stato decisamente veloce in prova, ma in gara ha poi effettuato la sosta obbligatoria fuori tempo limite venendo così penalizzato

A giudicare da questo primo appuntamento, il WTCC è ancora una volta un campionato spettacolare, dove colpi di scena, sorpassi e sportellate sono alla base di ogni gara! Rivalità genuina tra piloti, team e costruttori, questo è ciò che conta in pista!

Judging from this first event, the WTCC is another time a tremendous championship, where great show, overtaking and fights are the base of every race! Genuine competition among drivers, teams and makers, this is what matters on the race track!
