The 50th Italian Pro Drift Event

Quando la sera prima dell’evento guardi il meteo e vedi temporali previsti per tutto il giorno, beh, onestamente non è il massimo che possa capitare… siamo comunque partiti provvisti di impermeabili e ombrelli per andare a seguire la cinquantesima gara del campionato professionale Italiano di drifting che si teneva a Castelletto di Branduzzo, Pavia. La fortuna ci ha però assistito, in quanto la pioggia si è fatta timidamente viva solo per pochi minuti, permettendo ai piloti di dare uno spettacolo fantastico agli spettatori.

When the evening before the event you look at the weather forecast and you see that rainstorms are expected for the whole day, well, honestly it’s not the best thing that can happen… however we left provided with our raincoats and umbrellas to go to cover the 50th race of the Italian Pro Drift championship, helded at Castelletto di Branduzzo, Pavia. The luck was with us tho, because the rain came down in a shy way just for a few minutes, letting the drivers able to give a fantastic show to the spectators.

The day was divided between pro and street classes and there were a different amount of cars with every kind of different configuration, from modern stock BMWs,

alla vettura di Simone Pagani, un mostro bavarese da 650CV turbizzato.

to Simone Pagani’s car, a 650hp bavarian turboed monster.

La categoria street è stata la prima a scendere in pista e anche se può sembrare strano, c’erano dei piloti che di sicuro hanno talento e mezzo per poter tranquillamente gareggiare in categoria pro, come dimostrano i traversi di questa 350Z

The street category has been the first to go out on the track and even if it sounds strange, there were drivers that for sure have the talent and the cars to be able to race without any troubles in the pro category, as this 350Z

In classe pro è stato come al solito un fantastico spettacolo (unica pecca i tempi morti tra le sfide dovuti al calcolo delle telemetrie che assegna il punteggio). Martelli, Pagani, Sapino e Stella si sono combattuti i primi 4 posti e alla fine il grandissimo pilota della BMW M3 E92 arancione, Andrea Sapino si è imposto sugli altri vincendo la finale contro l’altrettanto fenomeno dei traversi Simone Pagani arrivato secondo.

In pro class it has been a tremendous show as usual (the only downside were the dead times between the duels because of the telemetry calculation that gives the result and the points). Martelli, Pagani, Sapino and Stella fought for the first 4 places and at the end the great driver of the orange BMW M3 E92, Andrea Sapino, impose himself on the others, winning the final against the as much drift phenomenon Simone Pagani that grabbed the 2nd place.

Per la sfida al terzo gradino del podio si sono quindi scontrati Martelli e Stella, che hanno dato vita a una grande battaglia dalla quale ne è uscito vincitore il pilota della Nissan Silvia S14 Kouki, Walter Stella.

So, the match for the 3rd place of the podium has been between Martelli and Stella and they did a great battle where the driver of the Nissan Silvia S14Kouki Walter Stella came out as winner.

Martelli si deve accontentare del quarto posto, ma possiamo assicurare che la sua guida e la sua BMW erano pazzeschi in pista, è sempre un vero piacere vederlo in azione. Con questa vittoria Sapino aumenta il suo vantaggio in classifica su Pagani, lasciando comunque il verdetto finale del campionato all’ultima gara di Varano che si terrà il 16 Ottobre.

Martelli needs to be satisfied with the 4th place, but we can assure that his driving style and his BMW were crazy on the track, it’s always a pleasure to see him in action. With this victory Sapino increase his lead in the ranking on Pagani, leaving however the final verdict of the championship to the last race of Varano, that will be held the 16th October.
